Entering its sixth season in Pittsburgh, AHN Friday Night Rivals is excited to announce its 2020 broadcast schedule, featuring a must-see matchup each Friday during the regular season live on 22 the Point (WPNT) and streaming live on 22thepoint.com.

In addition to the weekly Friday night broadcasts, 22 The Point is also featuring a Thursday edition of AHN Friday Night Rivals.

The 2020 slate of games features 13 playoff-qualifying teams from a season ago, including two defending WPIAL champions.

The AHN Friday Night Rivals season kicks off on Friday, Sept. 11 with Mars hosting Hampton.

Looking to build off of a 6-5 campaign a year ago, the Fightin' Planets will host one of the very first games of the reconfigured 2020 WPIAL season.

This season will include several Western Pennsylvania high school football name brands competing in different classes due to reclassification, allowing for some new intriguing encounters.

Perennial Class 6A power Pine-Richland's move to Class 5A means a new matchup with Upper St. Clair on Friday, Sept. 18, a classic North Hills versus South Hills meeting between two longtime proven programs.

In his second season after replacing legendary coach Jim Render, Upper St. Clair head coach Mike Junko will look to follow up on his 7-5 record, facing a major test hosting the Rams.

Pine-Richland head coach Eric Kasperowicz is looking to lead his program to a fourth straight appearance in the WPIAL championship game - having won WPIAL titles in 2017 and 2018, including the PIAA title in 2017 - this time in Class 5A.

On Friday, Sept. 25, AHN Friday Night Rivals will feature Peters Township hosting South Fayette.

Originally slated for Week 9, the realigned schedule moves this pivotal Class 5A showdown to earlier in the season.

Led by head coach TJ Plack, the Indians will once again be a top contender and will be looking to move beyond their narrow loss in the 2019 WPIAL championship game.

AHN Friday Night Rivals will then deliver a Thursday edition on Oct. 1, with Upper St. Clair making the trip to face Peters Township.

On Friday, Oct. 2, we'll see two Class 6A powers clash, with Art Walker Jr.'s North Allegheny hosting Mount Lebanon.

This will be longtime WPIAL head coach Bob Palko's second season at the helm at Mount Lebanon, following a 7-5 mark in his first season with the Blue Devils.

The Oct. 9 broadcast pits two Class 5A rivals with Gateway hosting Penn-Trafford.

After suffering an early season upset loss to Penn Trafford in 2019, the Gators rebounded en route to winning the WPIAL championship.

Led by nationally coveted recruit Derrick Davis, the Gators enter the season with high expectations.

Count South Fayette as one of the perennial contenders now competing in a larger classification.

In recent years, the Lions have been one of the top programs in Class 4A. With a booming enrollment, they are bumping up to Class 5A.

Head coach Joe Rossi's high-scoring offense will take on West Allegheny on Oct. 16.

Baldwin-Whitehall is another program on the move, slotting up to Class 6A this season.

The Highlanders will have a new coach leading them into their new classification with Tim Sweeney - who built a powerhouse at his alma mater, Derry Area the last six seasons - replacing Loran Cooley.

Rounding out the regular season, Baldwin will face a tall task hosting Terry Totten's Central Catholic Vikings on Oct. 23.
