PITTSBURGH -- What Makes Pittsburgh Great on FOX 53 is brought to you by the law firm of Swartz Culleton:
Docked along the Ohio River on Pittsburgh's North Shore is the Carnegie Science Center's USS Requin submarine.
Commissioned in 1945, the USS Requin sailed around the world for over two decades serving lengthy defense and scientific missions.
In 1990, Senator John Heinz introduced a bill which brought the sub to Pittsburgh.
Now at the Carnegie Science Center she serves a wonderful new purpose, educating visitors to Pittsburgh about life aboard a Cold War-era submarine.
