PITTSBURGH -- A strong defensive performance helped Upper St. Clair rally to beat Baldwin 35-21 in Friday's Week 2 AHN Friday Night Rivals powered by IGS Energy matchup broadcast live on 22 the Point.

The victory was new head coach Mike Junko's first home win after taking over the program from legendary coach Jim Render who retired last season.

"Very proud of our kids to come out here after that first half and play so hard," Junko said during the postgame trophy presentation.

"Couldn't be more proud as the head coach, couldn't be more proud as a member of the Upper St. Clair community."

Down 21-14 at halftime, the Panthers' defense limited Baldwin's multi-faceted offensive attack in the second half, pitching a shutout.

Upper St. Clair quarterback Ethan Dahlem passed for one touchdown and ran for two more in the second half comeback.

An 87-yard connection to wide receiver David Pantellis tied the game at 21-all.

Baldwin quarterback Mason Stahl led the Highlanders to their early lead, throwing for two scores and running for another touchdown.

Upper St. Clair improves to 2-1, 1-1, while Baldwin falls to 1-2, 0-1 in Class 5A Allegheny Eight Conference play.
